Discovery of HPV in male oral cancers leads to vaccination call
CBC News

There's growing evidence that the virus that causes cervical cancer in women is also linked to cancers in men, leading health professionals to call for an HPV vaccination program for boys.

Janet Dollin, the president of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada, said public health officials in Canada should consider vaccinating both girls and boys against HPV.

"Start thinking about immunizing everybody who is at risk — it makes no sense to vaccinate only the girls," Dollin said.

Recent research found more than half of some oral cancers in men are associated with the human papilloma virus.

Jim Henson is clearly bad ass.

"1969. The same year Sesame Street premiered, Jim Henson released an
experimental television production called 'The Cube'. "

" 'The Cube' is about the existential dilemma faced by a man who
suddenly finds himself trapped inside an 8 foot by 8 foot cube. He
can't get out, but apparently other people can come and go as they
please through panels in the walls. At first the Man is curious, but
slowly gets more and more frustrated and dejected. It is a production
reminiscent of Huis Clos (No Exit) by Sartre; where physical
boundaries affirm the reality of psychological isolation. It is a
fascinating, dark film that is often offbeat and humorous. The 20
characters are all interesting parodies of common human stereotypes.
At times it seems that Jim Henson has created an existential drama
with people puppeting the roles instead of Muppets. On another layer,
TV itself is 'The Cube'. It presents us with attention deficit
clichés which offer no insights or answers - just entertainment. It
teases us with familiarity and humor, but ultimately leaves us feeling
empty and trapped."

Mi dubas ke interesas pli ol unumonata tien-kaj-reen-umado kun kaj Telekom (iama ŝtata, nun privata firmao pri telekomunikado) kaj 1&1 (firmao pri interreto), sed almenaŭ momente funkcias telefono kaj interreto (la interreto nur pro trompetado), kaj do mi povas retumi.

Nekredeblas la stulteco de telefonistoj. La problemo estas ke oni atingas nur telefonistojn kiuj ne scias pri la tekniko, nek pri kiel solvi tiajn problemojn, kaj tamen ili ne pludonas telefonnumerojn de la uloj kiuj konkretaĵojn scias kaj povus helpi.

16:48 - Animated TV series update

Metalocalypse was hilarious and had a cool aesthetic parodying Nordic death metal.

Freakazoid and Venture Bros. were interesting and had cool ideas, but were ultimately not original enough for me to continue watching. Courage the Cowardly Dog was kind of dumb.

I accidentally watched episode 101 (instead of 001) of Bleach*, and it had really awesome character concepts, outfits and creatures, but it did seem to follow the formula that czarrie described.

*Maybe it is best after all to watch random anime episodes in the middle of a series instead of the first two episodes to see what it's really about!
